Lexus Unveils Immersive ‘Ambiance’ Installation at NYCxDESIGN 2025

Lexus made a bold statement at this year’s NYCxDESIGN Festival (May 15–21), supporting the 2025 Design Pavilion, New York’s premier public design exhibition. Taking place through May 19 at Hudson Yards Public Square and Gardens, Lexus presents Lexus Ambiance — an immersive installation that blends cutting-edge automotive design with dynamic, sensory-driven art.
Created in collaboration with NYCxDESIGN and Australian visual artist Nick Thomm, the Lexus Ambiance experience invites visitors into a world of emotion, motion, and light — bringing Lexus’ next chapter, “The Standard of Amazing,” to life.
“Lexus is rewriting the script and unveiling the next chapter of the brand, where we aim to connect emotionally with customers at their passion points,” said Gabrielle Diaz, Manager of Lexus Events. “Our participation in the 2025 Festival allows us to share a glimpse into the future of Lexus with the design community.”
At the entrance, guests are welcomed by the Lexus LC 500 Convertible, wrapped in Nick Thomm’s vibrant artwork and framed by a powerful light installation. Inside, the new Lexus GX 550, known for its muscular stance and modern design, is paired with kinetic experiences that respond to visitor movement. Real-time ambiance technology transforms gestures and energy into captivating light-based artwork.
“This is what the unification of multi-disciplinary design looks like,” said Ilene Shaw, Executive Director of NYCxDESIGN and Founder of Design Pavilion. “Lexus’ collaboration with Nick Thomm perfectly illustrates how industrial design, art, and technology come together to express culture and emotion.”
Hudson Yards, home to iconic structures like the Vessel, offers a fitting backdrop for this year’s Pavilion. Known for its design-forward spaces and cultural programming, the location reinforces NYCxDESIGN’s mission to highlight creativity in public environments.
“We’re proud to welcome NYCxDESIGN’s 2025 Design Pavilion to Hudson Yards,” said Stephanie Fink, SVP of Marketing, Partnerships and Events. “Lexus’ presence here enhances the experience and underscores our shared commitment to art, innovation, and community engagement.”
