What’s New in the 2024 LC 500 & 500h
The 2024 LC 500 and LC 500h are on the way, and equipped with upgraded technology and convenience features. As the flagship sports coupe for Lexus, the LC family is the perfect blend of emotional design and high performance. As the most passionate expression of the Lexus brand, the coupe displays a unique mesh grille, large glass panel and blacked-out rear pillars to create a floating roof appearance, and chrome plated moldings along the edges to echo the lines of a traditional Japanese sword.
The most unique aspect of the LC 500 is the light signature at night – inspired by the flow of a jet’s afterburners, the taillamps and triple-projector LED headlights prove a striking appearance. For 2024, the LC will adopt the 500h’s standard 21-inch forged alloy wheels with all grades receiving a new finish of gloss black with metallic accents. An available all-new 21-inch forged alloy wheel with gloss black metallic coating is also available on 2024 builds. The 2024 LC 500 and LC 500h will offer Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Copper Crest as two new exterior color options. Seven additional colors are also available including: Caviar, Cloudburst Gray, Atomic Silver, Ultra White, Infrared, Flare Yellow and Nori Green Pearl.
Upgraded at every angle
New to the interior for 2024 is a standard 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen display which provides easy-to-use controls and clear information to the driver and front-seat passengers. Enjoy the new Panoramic View Monitor that combines images from every angle of the vehicle to display on the center display. The seatback is able to drape over the shoulder area and around the seat back, creating a two-part flowing construction. In addition, the steering wheel cross section changes around its circumference to allow for variations in grip and twisting of the wrist. The front passenger also has not been ignored; the side of the center console rises to form an integrated grab handle.
For the first time, the 2024 LC 500 includes a Convertible trim, with a customizable Bespoke Build option, allowing customers to configure their vehicle with a mix of performance and styling components like the wheels, spoiler, roof and exterior/interior trim and colors. Choose from options such as a carbon fiber roof, 21-inch alloy wheels with an all-black finish, and three new interior color options.
Of course, the performance of the LC remains unmatched. The 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated V8 issues a full-throated engine note with an output of 471 hp and 398 lb.-ft. of peak torque. The sports coupe is also capable of delivering a 0-to-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and has a manufacturer-estimated 24 mpg on the highway. Paired with a 10-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission that can be controlled via magnesium paddle shifters, invoking the performance of the V8 engine and providing an even more direct connection of driver to machine.
Hybrid Power
After almost 20 years of Lexus Hybrid power, the LC 500h carries on the innovation as the first-ever Lexus Multistage Hybrid. Like other Lexus hybrid configurations, the LC 500h Multi-stage Hybrid System teams the gasoline engine with two electric motors.
An Atkinson-cycle 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine utilizes D-4S direct fuel injection for optimum efficiency while the lightweight valvetrain with Dual VVT-i ensures ample torque across the engine speed range. The planetary-type continuously variable transmission from Lexus Hybrid Synergy Drive is also present, adding a unique four-speed automatic transmission. Together, the two gearsets alter output in four stages to utilize the V6 engine across the entire speed range.
In M mode, these two gearsets provide the effect of 10 ratios, giving the vehicle an engaging feel and allowing the driver to shift through with paddles. In automatic mode, the AI shift control matches gear selection to driving conditions and driver inputs. The Multistage Hybrid System allows for more electric assist at lower vehicle speeds, and it enables the LC 500h to operate with the gasoline engine off at speeds of up to 87 mph.
The LC 500h system provides 354 horsepower, using a compact, lightweight lithium-ion battery that fits neatly between the rear seats and the luggage compartment and has a high-power density, with its 84 cells producing 310.8 volts.
