What’s New for the 2024 Lexus RZ
At the start of last year, Lexus ushered in a new era of Lexus of Electrified with the first-ever, all-electric Lexus RZ. This year, the RZ sees a collection of updates to the technology and performance, as well as an all-new RZ 300e with FWD and an EPA-estimated range rating of up to 266 miles. You can also find DIRECT4, an all-wheel drive system first introduced with the 2023 Lexus RX, in the updated RZ 450e. DIRECT4 works to optimize drive force, traction, and posture control (e.g., pitch and dive) in accordance with driving conditions and the load carried by each wheel.
The Lexus RZ boasts a cutting-edge design and advanced technologies to elevate driving performance. The e-TNGA steel platform, featuring Laser Screw Welding and Laser Peening, ensures optimal mass placement and high rigidity. A lightweight lithium-ion battery pack, positioned under the vehicle floor, enhances stability and ride comfort. The RZ’s suspension, with Frequency Reactive Dampers, contributes to handling balance and ride quality.
The vehicle’s Lexus Driving Signature is further enhanced by the Active Hydraulic Booster-G braking system, providing natural brake pedal feel and improved vehicle posture. The Electric Power Steering system reduces steering input, while aerodynamic design elements, including a spindle body and grille shutter, optimize efficiency. Exterior features, such as illuminated emblems and distinctive color options like Copper Crest, complement the RZ’s performance identity.
Available in Premium and Luxury grades, the RZ offers a choice of wheel finishes and exterior colors, including the striking Copper Crest. This model redefines electric luxury with its innovative design and performance-oriented features.
The Lexus RZ interior offers a minimalist yet luxurious atmosphere, featuring a compact powertrain for optimal space utilization. The low hood enhances front passenger visibility, and the available panorama glass roof creates a spacious feel. The cockpit, inspired by the tazuna concept, emphasizes driver-centric controls, including steering wheel-mounted switches and an available 10-inch head-up display.
Intuitive shift-by-wire technology simplifies drive mode selection, contributing to the cabin’s minimalistic design. The RZ prioritizes a serene environment with the oto-kukan concept, employing various features to reduce unwanted exterior sounds. Radiant heaters and ample storage options enhance in-cabin comfort.
The interior boasts three color options, ambient illumination, and premium materials. Five USB ports cater to device charging needs, while the 14-inch touchscreen, featuring cloud navigation and intelligent assistant capabilities, provides user-friendly controls. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-Fi Connect.
Safety features include Digital Key, Remote Connect, Intelligent Assistant, and Advanced Park. The RZ also offers an available Head-Up Display, Mark Levinson Surround Sound, and Traffic Jam Assist for a comprehensive driving experience.
