The Hype Around the 2024 Lexus GX: a Review
Publicity on upcoming vehicle releases is a given, but the latest 2024 Lexus GX has been generating significant buzz for the past few months. And rightfully so – according to Amanda Cline, an automotive enthusiast who recently got to experience the all-new GX for herself.
With many new SUVs hitting the market, the GX had to stand out, and it does. For those eagerly awaiting its arrival at dealerships, the new GX is starting to roll in. Cline had the chance to test drive the GX 550 Luxury and found herself thoroughly impressed. The 550 Luxury trim level starts at $77,250 and features a V6 twin-turbo engine with 349 HP and 479 lb-ft of torque. While fuel economy is 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, the ride quality makes up for it. The cabin is quiet and comfortable, and while the interior is more subdued compared to the 2024 Lexus TX, it remains premium and well-constructed.
For off-road enthusiasts, the Overtrail and Overtrail+ trims were built with you in mind. These models come with systems like Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), Crawl Control, and a standard Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS) for improved handling. The 2024 GX also features a new 14-inch touchscreen with Lexus Interface technology, which is responsive and user-friendly. The real buttons for volume and air conditioning are a welcome touch, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Safety features include the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, with systems like the Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Lane Tracing Assist.
A notable improvement in the 2024 model is the transition from a manual swing door to a power liftgate in the 550 Luxury model, with a convenient pop-open back window. Overall, the 2024 Lexus GX is a well-built SUV that meets the needs of many buyers. Despite a small cargo area, it offers the quality and reliability expected from Lexus. Combining luxury and comfort with off-road capability, especially in higher trims, the redesigned GX offers the best of both worlds.
