Lexus Unveils Boldly Reimagined 2026 ES with Hybrid and All-Electric Options

A new era of luxury. Lexus introduced the all-new 2026 ES sedan at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, unveiling the eighth-generation model with a striking new design, expanded powertrain options, including the first-ever ES battery electric vehicle (BEV), and an interior that blends advanced technology with refined elegance.
Developed under the theme “Experience Elegance and Electrified Sedan,” the redesigned ES will offer both front- and all-wheel drive configurations. This marks a major step forward in Lexus’ electrification strategy and represents the second of three new BEVs Lexus plans to debut by March 2026.
Drawing inspiration from the Lexus LF-ZC concept, the 2026 ES introduces a new design language called “Clean Tech x Elegance.” The result is a sleek, trunkless silhouette with a low-slung, sculpted profile that delivers both visual drama and aerodynamic efficiency.
Signature design highlights include:
- A bold, next-gen spindle body shape with a sharply defined front fascia
New Twin L-Signature Lamps for distinctive lighting and improved visibility - A wide, dynamic rear profile anchored by a single light bar and illuminated Lexus logo
- A Lexus-first exterior color called Wavelength
Inside, the ES boasts a roomier, reengineered cabin thanks to a longer overall length (+6.5 inches) and wheelbase (+3 inches). Lexus focused on maximizing visibility, comfort, and openness through slim trim elements and larger window surfaces. A higher seating position improves ingress/egress and enhances the field of view.
New premium touches include:
- Executive Package (available on the ES 350e FWD Luxury) featuring reclining rear seats with a passenger-side ottoman, seat ventilation, and massage functionality
- Lexus-first Bamboo Layering and Synthetic Leather Embossing with ambient illumination
- A Mark Levinson® Surround Sound System with optimized speaker placement for immersive audio
Built around Lexus’ tazuna cockpit concept, the new ES provides a driver-focused layout with a 12.3-inch digital display, improved sightlines, and high-end finishes including suede and ambient lighting.
The latest Lexus Interface multimedia system now features:
- A 14-inch touchscreen
- Enhanced voice assistant and native navigation
- Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™
- Dual Bluetooth® phone connections and split-screen functionality
With the debut of the 2026 ES, Lexus continues to elevate its luxury sedan experience by blending sustainable mobility with refined craftsmanship — a clear expression of the brand’s vision for the future of electrified elegance.
