Lexus is making waves in the surfing world with its latest venture: the brand’s inaugural surf ambassador partnership. This follows Lexus’ recent move into the surfing arena, highlighted by its expanded collaboration with the World Surf League (WSL). Announced in May, Lexus has become the Official Automotive Partner of the WSL in North America. This role includes title sponsorship of the Lexus US Open of Surfing, the Lexus WSL Finals, and the Lexus WSL Awards. Lexus will also continue as the title partner for the WSL Championship Tour (CT) in 2025 with the Lexus Pipe Pro.

Griffin Colapinto, a rising star in the surfing world, is set to be Lexus’ first-ever surf ambassador. “Being named Lexus’ inaugural surf ambassador is a huge honor,” said Colapinto. “I’m thrilled to represent a brand that supports top-tier athletes and I can’t wait to build this partnership as we approach the Lexus WSL Finals.”

Lisa McQueen, Lexus Media Manager, shared her enthusiasm: “Griffin and Lexus are a natural match due to our mutual dedication to performance and innovation. We’re excited to create incredible experiences for his fans and the surfing community.”

Colapinto, hailing from the surf-rich city of San Clemente, California, has made a significant mark in the sport. He was a NSSA Open Junior National Champion, a USA Surfing Champion, and an ISA World Champion. At just 19, he secured a top spot on the WSL Championship Tour. His impressive 2023 season saw him win the Surf Ranch Pro and achieve career-best results with a third-place finish on the WSL Championship Tour Rankings, following strong performances at the Sunset Beach Pro and Margaret River Pro.
