Lexus Leads Toyota Indiana into an Amazing Future

Toyota Indiana marked a significant achievement earlier this month with the start of production for the first-ever Lexus TX, a brand-new, three-row luxury SUV. The 2024 TX stands out as the first Lexus SUV to be manufactured in the U.S. and represents a premier addition to Toyota Indiana’s repertoire.

In a testament to its commitment to U.S. manufacturing and the more than 8,000 employees at Toyota Indiana, the automaker announced a substantial $803 million investment in 2021 for the assembly of two new SUVs. The launch of the Grand Highlander in 2023 set the stage for the introduction of the Lexus TX.

Leah Curry, President of Toyota Indiana, expressed enthusiasm about the Lexus venture, stating, “Being designated as a Lexus plant brings honor and prestige to the work we do every day, and it’s extremely gratifying to see our team recognized for their dedication and expertise.”

Crafted with North American drivers in mind, the TX prioritizes comfort and incorporates the distinctive features synonymous with Lexus vehicles. As the brand’s first foray into electrification, the 2024 TX combines strength and sophistication, offering substantial space and seating without compromising on innovative technology, refined performance, and luxurious amenities.

Preparing for the introduction of Lexus to Indiana involved meticulous readiness across the facility, personnel, and processes. This undertaking encompassed years of evaluating and enhancing every aspect of the plant’s operations, adapting to unique Lexus procedures, and raising overall standards.

Tim Hollander, Vice President of Manufacturing, emphasized Toyota Indiana’s unwavering commitment to excellence, stating, “Adding the Lexus TX to our already exclusive production lineup has only elevated what we do here.”

Governor Eric J. Holcomb commended Toyota’s contribution to Indiana’s role in advancing mobility, stating, “Toyota’s commitment to expanding its production in Princeton with the new Grand Highlander and Lexus TX is creating quality career opportunities for our Hoosier neighbors, while bolstering transformational economic and community growth across southwest Indiana.”

To celebrate this milestone, Toyota Indiana is making a $300,000 donation to the Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville’s Play-it Forward campaign. These funds will support the creation of an innovative mobile museum, ensuring equal access for children throughout the region to foster imagination and exploration through interactive STEAM activities. The mobile museum aims to extend educational content and enjoyment beyond traditional museum boundaries, enriching the community with the power of play.
