Introducing The Future Classic Club: Lexus and AMBUSH Celebrate What Endures

In a world that constantly chases what is next, Lexus and Tokyo-based design house AMBUSH are asking a different question: what lasts? That question is at the heart of The Future Classic Club, a new creative collective celebrating the people, objects, and ideas that outlast the moment and shape what comes after.
The partnership between Lexus and AMBUSH is a natural one. Founded by designer Yoon Ahn and musician and co-founder VERBAL, AMBUSH emerged from Tokyo’s creative underground and has grown into a global force spanning fashion, music, and culture. Lexus has long shared that same commitment to bold ideas, meticulous craftsmanship, and a distinct creative vision that refuses to follow the crowd.
At the center of the collaboration is the Lexus IS, which marks its 25th anniversary this year. When it first arrived for the 2001 model year, the IS challenged everything the automotive world thought it knew about what a luxury sports sedan could be for a younger generation. A quarter century later, its identity remains as sharp and recognizable as ever.
“For 25 years, the Lexus IS has challenged convention, bringing together bold design with performance and a distinctly individual point of view,” said Lisa McQueen, Senior Manager of Lexus Marketing. “Its enduring relevance reminds us that true originality is never defined by a moment; it has the power to shape what comes next.”
The Future Classic Club comes to life through a cinematic short film directed by Xavier Tera, tracing the influence of the Lexus IS across two eras of Tokyo. Moving from the early-2000s world that shaped the original sedan to the contemporary city where its spirit continues to resonate, the film draws inspiration from the visual language of early Japanese cinema.
Three creative voices bring the Club’s philosophy to life on screen. Sara Choi, professional drifter and founder of streetwear label Badseki, has carved her own lane at the intersection of car culture and fashion. Reo Sano, artist, actor, and dancer, moves fluidly across music, fashion, and art as a member of GENERATIONS. And Reiji Okamoto, musician, DJ, and drummer for OKAMOTO’S, has spent his career connecting creative worlds long before they reach the mainstream. Together, they embody exactly what The Future Classic Club stands for.
Designed under the creative direction of Yoon Ahn, The Future Classic Club capsule collection translates the design language of the Lexus IS into an ultra-limited lineup of apparel and hardware accessories. Industrial materials, structured textiles, and timeless silhouettes reinterpret the IS through the AMBUSH design lens.
“We were interested in the fact that the IS has been around for 25 years and still has a recognizable identity,” Ahn said. “That became the starting point for the collection. We looked at the details, materials and character of the car and translated them through the AMBUSH language into pieces we would actually want to wear and keep.”
Highlights from the collection include a leather Fireman Jacket ($2,600), a quilted Red Jacket inspired by the IS’s stitched interior ($780), graphic tees starting at $130, a co-branded cap ($120), and a chrome carabiner with intricate engraving ($300). Limited quantities are available at ambushdesign.com.
The Future Classic Club is an open invitation to creators, designers, and thinkers who are forging their own paths and building things meant to last. Lexus and AMBUSH invite anyone who shares that spirit to join the conversation using #FutureClassicClub, with more cultural moments and activations on the way throughout the year.
