Double Podium Finish for Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 at Long Beach Grand Prix

It was a strong showing for Vasser Sullivan Racing at the Long Beach Grand Prix this past weekend, with both Lexus RC F GT3 entries landing on the GTD class podium. The No. 12 Lexus, driven by Jack Hawksworth and Parker Thompson, clinched a second-place finish, while the No. 89 Lexus piloted by Aaron Telitz and Frankie Montecalvo secured third in a thrilling battle on the historic 1.968-mile street circuit.
The race started on a high note as Parker Thompson put the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 on pole position and maintained the lead through the opening stint. A scheduled pit stop on Lap 25 brought Jack Hawksworth into the driver’s seat. Meanwhile, Montecalvo, who started sixth in the No. 89 Lexus, climbed steadily through the field before handing over to co-driver Telitz under green flag conditions.
After the stops, both Lexus entries settled into podium contention, running second and third for much of the race. Hawksworth later passed Telitz to reclaim second in the No. 12 machine, setting up a Lexus 2-3 punch heading into the final stretch. A full-course yellow 53 minutes into the 100-minute sprint bunched up the field for one last restart, but Hawksworth was unable to make a move on the leading Porsche, and both Lexus entries held position to the checkered flag.
The podium sweep marks a valuable boost in the GTD class manufacturer standings, where Lexus now holds third place with 963 points, just 58 behind Porsche and two behind Mercedes-AMG. The No. 12 Vasser Sullivan entry also climbs to second in the team standings, narrowing the gap behind the leading No. 57 Windward Racing squad.
The Vasser Sullivan Lexus team will look to carry this momentum into the next round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Sunday, May 11, as the GTD PRO and GTD classes take on the challenging 2.238-mile road course in the Monterey SportsCar Championship.
